Source formula and boundaries

Formula

Adjusted square feet = area converted to square feet × (1 + waste ÷ 100). Purchase quantity = adjusted square feet ÷ coverage, rounded up.

Coverage scope

Source defaults are 33.3333333333 sq ft per shingle bundle, 1,000 sq ft per TPO/PVC/EPDM roll, and 100 sq ft per metal or tile square.

The source output typo “squaress” is corrected to “roofing squares.” No coverage, product or accessory assumption was added.

Roof material calculator FAQ

What does this roof material calculator estimate?

It turns roof area, waste, material type and a coverage assumption into an early planning quantity. It is not a final order.

Can I use it for shingles and flat roofing materials?

Yes. The source supports shingles, TPO, PVC, EPDM, metal and tile. Product-specific coverage still needs confirmation.

Why is there a coverage override?

Coverage varies by manufacturer, roll size, panel profile and product line. Use a supplier or product-sheet number when available.

Does it include accessories?

No. It does not replace panel layout, accessory takeoffs or supplier-specific conversions.
